19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since March of that year.

The win also indicates he has won 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on court had led commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
