At its most basic, they transformed an image of affection into a figure of animosity who endorses precisely the cruelties that he criticized in biblical teachings; this transformation occurred more slowly, across decades as opposed to months, yet it remains disconcerting through similar means, a disorienting gut punch for countless people.
A Toxic Christianity Takes Hold

The apparent and straightforward truth that the Savior of the gospels advocates for a kind of profound affection centered on the impoverished has perpetually caused the Christian faith something of a controversial faith: engaging for the general public, but owing to its inherent radicalness requiring to be restrained. In the fifties it was contained through watering down – Protestant Christianity was so dominant that it essentially sanctified existing conditions.
A Conflict for the Highest of Us
Hence I have become heartened to see the persistent defiance against Trump develop over the last twelve months.
